PRICKLY CURRENT BUSH
The Prickly Currant Bush is found in damp, shaded areas often by
rivers and creeks in Victoria, Tasmania, NSW, and South Australia. It grows to a
height of around 3 metres, occasionally reaching four metres, and is evergreen.
Structural Adaptations:
The bush has prickles on the plant so that animals cannot easily eat their fruits and difficult to harvest. Physiological Adaptation: Produce large seeds which have to be spat out because of their size whereas their red fruits are sweet and juicy and edible. It is an evergreen as its preferred habitat is in damp areas near rivers and creeks. |
